Marriage

Marriage contract :
The marriage contract is concluded in Tunisia before two notaries or before the registrar with two witnesses.
Conditions to be satisfied by Tunisian citizens before signing the marriage contract :
* the spouses' consent
* the mother's consent for minors
* two witnesses
* to fix the bride's dowry and mention it in the contract
* spouses should not have any legal hindrance
* To mention in the contract the matrimonial division or shared property.

Required documents for the marriage of Tunisian citizens :
* birth certificate for both spouses
* pre-marriage medical certificate for both spouses
* identification card of both spouses
* court's permission for men under 20 and women under 17
* parental consent for both spouses
* administrative permission if one of the spouses is a member of the national security corps ( police, military or diplomatic corps)
* death certificate of the spouse for the marriage of widowers

Required documents for the marriage of Muslim Tunisian women with a foreigners :
The following documents are required besides the documents required for the marriage contract of Tunisians :
* single status certificate or divorce certificate.
* for the case of a non Muslim husband, a certificate testifying that he has embraced Islam
* a certificate issued by the Embassy or Consulate of the husband's country authorizing the marriage

Required documents for the marriage of foreigners in Tunisia :
* On top of the documents required for the marriage of Tunisians, a certificate issued by the Embassy or Consulate of the spouses' country authorizing the marriage
